I can relate! When I was in Prague in 2008 speaking with German friends, I told them we had “das Gift” for them that we brought from the U.S. But in German das Gift means “the poison” or “venom.” They laughed out loud. Later I gave them “das Geschenk.” 😂🤦

Yes thankfully they didn’t eat the “poison,” but they liked the gift. Ha!
